On November 16, 2021,  the Fort Lauderdale City Commission, acting as the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) Board of Commissioners,  held a public hearing and approved a resolution accepting the proposal of Sistrunk Apartments, LLC for the development of “The Aldridge” and “The Laramore” mixed-use affordable housing development projects. The two projects will be located on CRA owned property at 1204 Sistrunk Boulevard and 1620 NW 6 Court. Each building will contain 36 apartments with  ground floor retail and a parking garage. The Aldridge and the Laramore are named in tribute of  two African American Fort Lauderdale pioneers. “The Aldridge” is named after Sylvia H. On November 16, 2021,  the Fort Lauderdale City Commission, acting as the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) Board of Commissioners, approved a $23.1 million bank loan for the Fort Lauderdale CRA to provide larger  incentives for new development along the Historic Sistrunk Commercial Corridor. Three of the projects to be funded from the secured loan include two mixed-use affordable housing  projects and a  commercial/entertainment complex. The projects include: The Aldridge and Laramore, located at 1204 Sistrunk Boulevard and 1620 NW 6th Court. On September 9, 2021, the Fort Lauderdale City Commission, acting as the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) Board of Commissioners, approved an agreement with ACAI Associates, Inc to provide architectural services  to design plans for improvements to Provident Park. Provident Park is located in the heart of the Sistrunk Corridor  at  1212 Sistrunk Boulevard.  Proposed upgrades to the park,  include historical monuments , an interactive water splash pad, improved walking trails, an amphitheater/bandstand, new restrooms, and landscape designs. ACAI Associates, Inc., a City-approved architectural firm,  will provide services that include: development review, schematic design, design development, construction documents, and contract administration. On August 17, 2021, The Fort Lauderdale City Commission, acting as the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) Board of Commissioners, approved a $640,000 Development Incentive Program Loan to Green Mills Holdings, LLC and The Pantry of Broward, Inc. for  the development of “The Pantry Lofts”. This loan is contingent upon the award of 9% tax credits from the Florida Housing Finance Corporation. The Pantry Lofts is a  proposed mixed-use development that will feature an  8-story, 90-unit residential tower located in the Progresso Village area at the corner of Sistrunk Boulevard and NW 3 Avenue. The project will  offer affordable senior housing and new facilities for The Pantry of Broward along with structured parking and building amenities. On June 15, 2021 the Fort Lauderdale City Commission, acting as the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) Board of Commissioners, approved  a donation of land to five developers for the construction of  new single-family homes in the NPF-CRA area. The approved developers are: WWA Development LLC, Fort Lauderdale Community Development Corporation, Ges Mac Development Inc, Lemon City Development LLC, and Oasis of Hope Community Development Corporation Inc. The donation of land is a part of the CRA's Scattered Site Infill Housing Development Project, which entails the development of single-family homes on  43  vacant CRA-owned properties.  The new homes will consist of three to four bedrooms with two baths and standard design features. Cost savings from the land donation are expected to be passed on to homebuyers.
