CRA Board Approves Property Safety Enhancement Program for Commercial Corridors
On May 5, 2026, the Fort Lauderdale City Commission, acting as the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) Board of Commissioners, approved a new incentive designed to improve safety and strengthen commercial corridors within the Northwest-Progresso-Flagler Heights (NPF) CRA and Central City CRA districts. The newly established Property Safety Enhancement Program (PSEP) will provide eligible commercial property owners, business tenants, and nonprofit organizations located within the CRA boundaries with the opportunity to apply for financial assistance for security and safety improvements. Developed in collaboration with the Fort Lauderdale Police Department’s Environmental Crime Unit, the program utilizes Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles to help deter crime, improve visibility, enhance security, and create safer environments for businesses, employees, customers, and the surrounding community.
