29 Jul THE ROBERT BETHAL AMERICAN LEGION POST 220 RECEIVES CRA INCENTIVE
The Fort Lauderdale CRA is working to preserve and enhance significant landmarks on Sistrunk Blvd. The Robert Bethal American Legion Post 220, located at 1455 Sistrunk Blvd will undergo a substantial renovation and expansion funded in part by the CRA. Improvements to the building will include an expansion from 960 square feet to 2,544 square feet. The new and improved building will feature a contemporary, open and attractive look with high ceilings and windows. In addition, the building will house a large area for meetings and special events, a new modern kitchen, new handicap accessible restrooms, an outdoor social gathering and event area, office and storage space.
These much needed improvements are long overdue. The Robert Bethal American Post 220, Inc. has served the community for over 70 years. In addition to providing services to its veteran members, the local organization has provided Reserved Officer Training Corps (ROTC) with academic scholarships. They also spearhead food giveaways, and the distribution of Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets to veterans.The organization applied for and received $374,000 in incentives from the CRA’s Non Residential Façade Improvement Program and from the Property and Business Improvement Program.
