The Laramore

The Laramore is a mixed-use affordable housing development currently under construction, consisting of a five-story building that integrates residential units with ground-floor retail space and a parking garage. The project is designed to contribute to a dynamic, multi-generational community while addressing the growing need for quality, affordable housing.The development will include 36 apartment units, comprised of 20 two-bedroom, two-bath units and 16 one-bedroom, one-bath units. The building will also include approximately 3,000 square feet of commercial space to accommodate local businesses and activate the surrounding streetscape.

All units will be pet-friendly and outfitted with Energy Star appliances, including a range, refrigerator, washer, and dryer. Residences will feature professionally designed kitchens with granite countertops, designer lighting, and high-quality finishes throughout, including designer tile in common areas.The Laramore will provide mixed-income housing options for working professionals and retirees alike. The development will maintain affordability for at least 30 years, serving households earning up to 60% of Broward County’s area median income. Rent will be capped at 30% of gross monthly income, including utilities, ensuring long-term housing stability for residents.The development is named in honor of David N. Laramore, a Bahamian seminarian who was instrumental in establishing Elks Lodge No. 652 within the CRA and who founded St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, constructed in 1916. The church remains the oldest building in Broward County continuously used for religious purposes, reflecting a longstanding legacy of faith, community, and cultural heritage.
