17 May New Partnership looks to advance Arts & Culture in NPF CRA
Broward Cultural Division has launched the Sistrunk Arts Partnership (SAP) to solidify relationships with arts and cultural organizations, creative industries, and other community-based stakeholders in the Northwest Progresso Flagler Heights Community Redevelopment Area to further advance the vision for the community.
Through SAP, Broward Cultural Division will work with community partners to develop activities that address ten-year cultural and economic development goals, and support the strategic economic development plan for the CRA.
The possibilities for growth within the arts and culture sector are numerous.
THE MAJOR TENETS OF THE PLAN ARE TO:
• Preserve, celebrate and honor Sistrunk’s rich history
• Expand access to the local arts and culture for residents and visitors
• Strengthen the presence of creative industries along Sistrunk Boulevard
• Build greater connectivity between NPFH neighborhoods and the numerous arts and cultural assets
Additionally, SAP activities will respond to the CRA’s five-year strategic objectives and development goals. As part of this plan, the CRA looks to attract culinary and creative arts businesses as well as venues that directly impact cultural development. The CRA will also develop initiatives to embrace the creative class and focus on business retention and expansion efforts in creative industries, including nonprofits.
The possibilities for growth within the arts and culture sector are numerous. Therefore, to address the very specific goals and objectives, the Broward Cultural Division and CRA are interested in pursuing activities such as: • Professional and business development for artists, cultural organizations and creative businesses
• Affordable commercial and residential space for artists and creative businesses and community arts space for local youth and adults
• Arts-based community-building and engagement that expands and increases access to the arts and tourism by residents and visitors
• Collaboration between artists and arts and cultural organizations with a focus on the Sistrunk neighborhood
