17 May All Aboard Florida construction progressing as planned
Construction on the station is also well underway. The station and the system between Miami, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach will be open in early 2017. The extension to Orlando will open in late 2017.
Construction on the All Aboard Florida station and rail infrastructure is progressing. Over the summer, All Aboard Florida shifted existing freight rail tracks so station construction within the rightof-way could progress. All Aboard Florida will continue upgrading grade crossings throughout the City of Fort Lauderdale, and will also make the quiet zone improvements that are funded as a result of the partnership with the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization. A quiet zone means passenger and freight trains will not be required to blow their horns as they approach grade crossings, unless there is an emergency on the tracks. Construction on the station is also well underway. The station and the system between Miami, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach will be open in early 2017, and the extension to Orlando will open in late 2017.
